Whether you are an art enthusiast or simply curious about the world of art, SUM provides everyone an opportunity to discuss, learn, and develop their skills and knowledge on all things museums and art. Our members have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the prestigious USC Fisher Museum of Art and the USC Pacific Asia Museum. With chances to connect with museum staff and participate in unprecedented experiences, our organization provides a vibrant community for students to expand their passion for all things artistic.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to create a space for students to learn, socialize, and develop necessary skills through experiential learning at the USC Fisher Museum and USC Pacific Asia Museum. We strive to provide unique opportunities for our members to network with professionals, gain insights into museum careers, and foster a community of passionate art lovers. This organization is dedicated to celebrating all things art, and we invite all USC students to join our vibrant community. Here we strive to cultivate a deeper appreciation for museum culture.

    Meant to highlight the innovative ways in which household materials might be utilized to create prints and drawings, this exhibition concerns itself with various contemporary artists' use of "odd" or mundane materials in their work.

    This exhibition follows the life and career of Don Bachardy through the presentation of his works as well as other archival materials. A Los-Angeles based artist, Bachardy is best known for his portrait work of culturally significant personalities of the 20th and 21st centuries.

    We Live in Painting, an exhibition on display at LACMA in partnership with PST ART, presented by the Getty, is an exploration of the role of color in Mesoamerican art in both an aesthetic and scientific sense.

    Sci-Fi, Magick, Queer L.A.: Sexual Science and the Imagi-Nation considers the importance of science fiction fandom and occult interests to U.S. LGBTQ history. Curated by ONE Archives at the USC Libraries and presented at the USC Fisher Museum of Art. In partnership with Getty PST.

    Cai Guo-Qiang: A Material Odyssey Exhibition

    On View: September 17,2024 - June 15,2025
    Over three decades, Cai has had numerous solo exhibitions in major art museums around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2006, and a retrospective at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2008, the latter of which broke the museum’s then-attendance record.
